'Wonder Woman' planning the Oscars Campaign
According to Variety, Warner Bros. began an Oscar campaign for Wonder Woman. Warner Bros. will target the Best Picture for Wonder Woman and Best Director for female director Patty Jenkins.
With $781 million in global box office receipts, “Wonder Woman” has already broken records as the highest-grossing movie directed by a woman ever.
"Wonder Woman" will become the first superhero movie to win the Best Picture?
DC Cinematic Universe’s first movie Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was strongly criticized by critic but still a big hit on the box office. After that, Suicide Squad by David Ayer was badly criticized and the film gross was not very good. However, for Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. and DC made a film that not only satisfied both audiences and critics but made a lot of money as well, which is probably the reason why Warner Bros. wants Wonder Woman to have a place in the upcoming Oscar season.
"Wonder Woman" - A cinematic work that makes the DC Universe proud of.
Wonder Woman was debuted in early summer of 2017. After the premiere, the film became the most successful work of the DC Universe in North America. Wonder Woman is only behind Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in terms of their grosses worldwide. Wonder Woman 2 is set to be premiered by Warner Bros at Christmas in 2019, namely on December 13.
The recent time period is still considered to be the heyday of superhero movies, and sooner or later, the films adapted from comic books will leave a strong impression on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). Last year, Suicide Squad won an Oscar nomination for the Best Makeup. However, the case for a superhero film, an adaptation of a comic book nominated in large categories is quite rare. There are only some exceptions such as the Best Supporting Actress of the late actor Heath Ledger for the role of Joker in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight.

Another example is the popular movie Deadpool produced by Fox 20th Century, which also won many awards last year, or recently, the Logan film has been also highly rated by critics. However, many believe that Warner Bros. is trying its best to turn Wonder Woman into the first superhero movie nominated for Best Picture. Let's wait and see if our gorgeous Gal Gadot will bring something magic to DC!
