12 artists who broke records excellently at BBMAs 2019

Drake is the new king of BBMAs, but many other artists also went through a sweet award night.


Drake has surpassed Taylor Swift to become the recipient of the most awards in BBMAs history. This year, he won 12 awards, bringing the total number of awards in his career to 27. Swift won 23 BBMA awards. Among the awards, Drake won the Top Artist and Top Billboard 200, twice each in three years.

The ‘Girls Like You’ song of Maroon 5/Cardi B won the Top Hot 100 Song and Top Collaboration. This is the second time in four years, a pop/hip-hop couple has been honored in this category. Wiz Khalifa's ‘See You Again’ (in collaboration with Charlie Puth) won this award in 2016. This award is among the six awards of Cardi B; four awards of Maroon 5.

"This One’s for You" by Luke Combs won the best country album, breaking the monopoly of Chris Stapleton for 3 consecutive years. Combs also won the best country artist award.


BTS makes history for Kpop to bring about the Most Influential Artist on the Social Network. This is the third consecutive time the group has achieved this achievement. In addition, the 7 boys who are Kpop artists first hold the Top Duo/Group award.

Florida Georgia Line became the first artist who won three times for the country song of the year. The duo won for ‘Mete to Be’ when cooperating with Bebe Rexha. The winning song in 2014 was ‘Cruise’ (in collaboration with Nelly) and 2017 for ‘H.O.L.Y.’

The Chainsmokers became the first artist to win three times for the Top Dance/Electronic Artist award. They also won the Top Dance/Electronic Album for the second year in a row.

WRLD Juice wins New Artist award. This is a worthy reward for hip-hop star after he was not nominated in any category at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards in February. Other candidates for BBMA's top new artist include Dua Lipa, who won the Best New Artist award at Grammy Awards.


Imagine Dragons won the Top Rock Artist award in the second consecutive year. They won the previous competition in 2014. This achievement made the group the leading artists in this category since BBMAs restarted in 2011 after a period of hiatus.

Ella Mai received three awards such as the Top R & B Artist. She was the third woman to win that category since BBMAs restarted in 2011. The first two were Rihanna and Beyoncé.


Being absent from the ceremony this year due to the busy schedule, but Ariana Grande still brought the Billboard Chart Achievement and Top Female Artist. This is the first time Ariana Grande has won the award after all the previous seasons.

Lauren Daigle became the first female solo artist to win the Top Female Christian Artist award twice. Previously she won this award in 2017. Lauren also won the Top Christian Album and Top Christian song. She was the only artist to break all three awards in one category this year.
